Community Donations Provide
Free School Lunches When
Family Budgets Can’t Provide

"Children's Food for Thought helps families who can't afford school lunches and yet do not qualify for assistance. I believe worth in life comes from being a friend to those in need. The Foundation shares that vision with me as seen in its years of service to our Bloomington community and its support of CFT. There are many needs out there and I have found that being faithful to the task I have chosen provides me with my fireworks." – Ann Tillotson
Children’s Food for Thought provides free school meals for students whose family income is not low enough to qualify for federally funded free/reduced-price meals. The program also serves as a bridge for kids to have lunch while a family’s application for free or reduced-priced school meals is pending. We depend on each school’s caring staff—teachers, counselors, administration—to guide us to students who could use EFT’s support. Wholly supported by community donations, CFT acts immediately without an application process and confidentially transfers donated money into a student’s account.
In summer 2010 a huge sale of gently used athletic gear raised sufficient funds so CFT meals would be available beginning with the first day of school. Generous community donations and purchases made the one-day sale, hosted at CrossPoint Church, a heart-warming success for hungry students.
